The winter transfer market is typically a period of feverish rumour and potential major deals. Several high-profile stars find themselves linked with transfers away from their present teams. Here is a look at a selection of the major figures who could be on the move this month.

A. Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' failure to reach the AFCON, this has left the forward available, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker possesses a deal with a substantial release clause applicable for a short window at the start of the month. Recent developments point to the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for teams such as Liverpool or Manchester United to make a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

The English defender has continued to excel for Palace despite a previous move to Anfield falling through. With his contract due to expire in the summer, January is the London club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of top clubs, such as Manchester City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to be interested. Yet, a January exit is considered unlikely, especially given the coach's dependence on the defender.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the club's top scorer last season, he has started just a small number of league games. Reports suggest the London outfit is open to a transfer for the correct price, thought to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also showing an interest.

Spurs rate the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

R. Neves

The Portugal playmaker could be poised for a return to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only twenty-eight, while his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a potential bargain. Teams like Manchester United and Liverpool are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there have been suggestions from Spain that he is prepared to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

This experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça under new coach Hansi Flick. After lost his place and undergone an operation, a winter exit looks increasingly likely. Aston Villa were once mentioned as a possible destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, clubs from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are thought to be expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Because of FIFA regulations about representing multiple teams in a season, a move back to Liverpool before next summer appears to be the sole available outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkish forward has been in excellent form for Juventus this season. As his current contract running down, many English clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the situation. The Turin club are eager to secure the 20-year-old to a lengthy contract but are in a battle to retain one of Europe's most promising young talents.

K. Smit

The much-admired Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, he has broken into the AZ Alkmaar side. The teenager is heavily expected to make a big-money transfer in January.
